This offers reading activities and assessments. It also includes a lesson on comparing and contrasting the events in the book and the movies.

Party Lesson Plan
-Link to a lesson that is set up into three parts. The first part has student researching how characters from the Victorian age would've dressed, acted and what they would have been talking about. The second part would include students picking characters from the novel which they would want to represent. The final step would be getting students into groups and allowing them to set up a 5-10 minute scene to perform in front of the class that would tie everything they have learned together.

Apple Commercial This was the tv ad first used by Apple to advertise their computer. It is made to look like the 1984 movie trailer and portrays Windows users as mindless drones. This would be a helpful visual to get students thinking about the ways that we all go along with the collective and what parts of our society resemble Oceania.
1984 Book Covers There have been various book covers for the novel 1984 since it was first published. Here students can look at the different covers and see how they have changed over time.
{1984experience.doc} This document is something I found on the EC Ning. One of the teachers does an immersion leson where she turns her classroom into Oceania for a day and it sounds like a great idea and way that students would definitely remember 1984.
